Vote For Your Faith and Family

“Righteousness Exalteth a Nation…”
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. II Samuel 23:3
Those of us who claim to Christian must be ‘Christ-like’. We cannot be spiritual minded and secular at the same time. We cannot separate our moral values from our political beliefs. We must not vote for candidates and issues that violate our faith. Each time we vote we must ask, “What would Jesus do?”

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people [Proverbs 14:34]. The definition of righteousness is “an attribute that implies as one leading a life pleasing to God, a person whose actions are justified.”
This blog is pro-family, so the author cannot sit back and say nothing about leadership and policies that I see destroying the family and faith. This is an election year – a year that we are choosing leaders to lead our country. We still have a choice; let us vote for righteousness.
God is the one who creates life and forms the baby while he/she is still in the womb, so how can we vote for those who would destroy life?
God created the family and decreed that marriage should be formed in love between a man and a woman, so how can we vote for those who would destroy what God has designed? Evil prevails when Christian people say nothing.
God requires us to “love our neighbor,” so how can we vote for candidates who say mean, spiteful and even vulgar things to each other.
We have seen our constitutional religious rights limited of late by those (though in the minority) yet are very visual and vocal. As evangelical Christians, we must not be mean or spiteful, yet we must stand up for our right to not condone or be forced to participate in actions we see as being against God’s plan for marriage and the family. I applaud the actions of Mississippi in passing the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act.” This Act sought to protect “sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions.” This is an example of voting for Faith and Family.
I see many Christians voting their pocket book rather than their faith, yet our Lord tells us: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” [Matthew 6:33 KJV].
God is not a communist nor is He a capitalist. He does not sanction many of the actions of both. God promotes hard work, yet not at the expense of compassion. God does not condemn wealth, but he is concerned about the method whereby it was accumulated. God cannot bless a country or a man that acquires wealth at the expense of the poor. Jesus tells us, “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” [Luke 12:15 KJV].
Jesus would not build walls or promote prejudice. Jesus would say, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls:” We are instructed to “love your neighbor as yourself” [Mark 12:31]. As Christians, we oppose discrimination based upon a person’s race or lifestyle, and at the same time we also promote the right of all men to religious freedom.
God is not a Republican or a Democrat, nor is he an Independent or a Libertarian. Even though he created this earth, he is not of the Green Party. He is not a conservative or a liberal – He is God. We do not vote for a secular party. We must look and vote for the moral person; we vote for righteousness.
Ask yourself,  “Does this candidate stand for righteousness?” Will he/she look first at the issues that face our country from a moral perspective?”
A good guideline for you, as well as your elected officials, should be:“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” [Philippians 4:8 KJV].
Moral issues are not minor issues, they are the main issues facing our country. All the problems our country faces today are due to Sin and Selfishness. Vote for Righteousness – Vote for Faith and Family!
